HOW IT WORKSTeams of three amateurs and one pro will compete over two days in slalom, skeet shooting and go-kart racing. Amateurs can sign up as teams or will be assigned randomly. Pros for each team will be determined on Friday at the skier's meeting by drawing names out of a hat.
Each team will accumulate points based on their performance in each event. The team with the most points at the end of the tournament will be the winner of the 2019 Travers Grand Prix. To break any team ties, we will go back to the single best slalom score (based on handicap) to determine the winner. The top three amateur teams will receive prizes. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR PROS: All Pros must upload an Instagram or website link and a picture in order to be entered into the event. Top 20 men off of the World Ranking List must attend the skier's meeting on Friday May 3rd at 11:00AM and skeet-shoot with their team on Saturday morning. If the Pro's don't shoot with their team on Saturday morning, the Pro will be disqualified from pro slalom. The top 20 pro slalom athletes entered in the event, based on World Ranking List, will be eligible to compete in the 3-event, team-based pro am tournament. All other pros can still compete in the cash prize slalom event. ENTRY FEES: Amateurs $300* | Pros $300** Includes lunch at the lake on Friday and Saturday. DEADLINE: April 5, 2019 *PLEASE NOTE: Amateur participants must be over the age of 14 due to go-karting requirements. **Pro division open to Pro Men only. EXAMPLE: If your team score from slalom is 4, your team score from shooting is 7.6 and your GoKart score is 11 your team's Grand Prix Score will be 22.6 |
SLALOM EVENTRULES: Each team has three skiers and one pro. The rules are simple. Your handicap will be based on your USA Water Ski ranking list average, or European equivalent (World Ranking List), whichever is higher. The ranking list will be pulled on April 5, 2019 and all averages will be based on this "pulled" list. And your point score will be determined by how many buoys you exceed (or fall short) of that score.
Your best score from two rounds will be your point contribution for your team. Please make sure you sign up for www.worldwaterskiers.com prior to the event. Pro Finals will be on Friday. The top 8 scores from the first round, move through to second round. Run-offs will be held for the top 3 placements. Prize purse is $15,000 and the breakdown will be posted soon. LOCATION: The slalom event will be held at Jack Travers' International Tournament Skiing in Groveland Florida. EXAMPLE: If your average is 3@35 off and you run a top score of 5@35, your team will be awarded 2 points. Or if your average is 3@35 and your best score of the tournament is 3@32 off, your score for your team will be -6. So if your best score is 2 over your average, and your other teammates get a 4 and a -2 your team score is 4. |
SKEET SHOOTING EVENTSkeet shooting will begin at 10am on Saturday morning. Teams will shoot together and the running order will be sent via email to all competitors one week prior to the event.
Each person will shoot from one station. You will get four warm-up shots before your 10 shots. So a perfect score would be 10. The amount of clay pigeons shot by your entire team will be added together and divided by three. This is your team score for the competition. LOCATION: Skeet shooting will begin at 10am on Saturday morning at Sunset Lakes. EXAMPLE: If you shoot 4 at the first station and 3 at the second station. Your individual score is 7. Your other two team members shoot a 10 and a 6. Your team score will be 7.6 |
GO KART EVENTThe Go-Kart event will happen on Friday immediately following skiing.
The race will be broken up into two different one-hour heats. Prior to your team's heat, each driver will have a 10 minute warm-up race for seeding. Then, each driver from your team will race for 20 minutes. (One hour total per team.) So, all three team members will race together in the same hour session, but in their own 20 minute time slot. The fastest lap from each driver in your team will be taken and added together and then divided by three for your team average. The teams will then be ranked in order of fastest average. The top team will receive 10 points, the second place team, 9.5, the third place 9 and so on in half-point increments. LOCATION: The Go Kart Event will take place at Bushnell Motorsports Park, located 30 minutes from Jack Travers' International Tournament Skiing. The address is 5821 Pit Road, Bushnell, Florida 33513.
